Corn conversions...

Post by jon1163 »

I've been mainly using flaked maize for all of my recipes that call for corn. I've been looking around everywhere and I can't find any conversions however for recipes that call for cracked corn Etc. Is one pound of flaked maize equivalent to one pound of cracked corn once it's been mashed?

The rule of thumb I think is 2lbs/gallon will net you about a 1.065 gravity.

I think you will do better with flaked over cracked pound for pound.

my recent changes from cracked and occasional stirring OG's at 1.062-1.064, fine grind with continuous stirring OG 1.078-1.082 using same weights/water
I finally quit drinking for good.

now i drink for evil.
