First home built pot still

Many like to post about a first successful ferment (or first all grain mash), or first still built/bought or first good run of the still. Tell us about all of these great times here.
Pics are VERY welcome, we drool over pretty copper 8)

First home built pot still

Post by Im gone »

Well - here it is. I still need to solder the connection to the keg, but other than that, it is pretty much done.
The condensor is attached with brass thread and can be removed.
I realize that the condensor is small, but I am planing on push water through the bucket it will be in.
Nothing fancy, but, I think it will do the job. More/better pictures to follow.

better photos and keg coupling is now finished. Again - nothing unique or fancy, but I think it will prove to be a work horse.

Like you say bloke, she's a workhorse. Should get the job done well.

The 2" to 1/2" reducer looks a bit harsh, but nothing that can't be mod'ed if you want later.

Push cool water through the bottom of the bucket, and collect hot water off the top. Just feel up and down the side of the bucket as you run, this will let you know if your coil is up to it and how much water to push through the bucket.

Use the hot water collected for washing jars. If you have any left, put it in the fridge for later, hot water is always handy!
You design it, I make it. Copper and Stainless. Down under. PM me.

Very nice looking rig. Thinking about something on this order to replace my offset head for making whisky and rum.

Nothing like saving hot water for later use in the fridge!! I'ts reusable, just add heat

Sorry emptyglass, I couldn't resist

Did a vinegar run today. Went well - no leaks. I need to tighten up my system on the collection end though. The bucket leaked water a bit and things were a bit jimmy-rigged.
