Re: First pot still
i never dealt with air cooled but it looks like it must be knocking down the vapors. i guessthats why ya need 40' of looks like 1/2'' copper. nice looken rig.if you got any copper left ya mite want to solder a few hard peices on your coil to keep its shape, after moving them a few times you can get flat spots or uphill loops.
today marks the dawn of a new error.

Thanks for the complements. Trying to conserve on the H20 so I went with an air cooled worm, temps start to recede about 1/2 way (20') down with the fan speed at medium (no idea of cfm's) seems to do just fine. Yes the worm is made of 1/2" copper. Your right I need to support the worm so it will not flatten out, Thanks.

Looks good; this design seems simple enough that I could do it despite never having worked with copper before. I have a question about how you connected the different components, actually that is the question, how is your short column attached to the lyne arm (it looks like a hose clamp there) and how is the arm attached to the worm? It seems like you would want to be able to take all of those pieces apart if only to make it easier to move and avoid banging and crimping the copper.

Looks good. How big a diameter is your tubing?

Re: First pot still
Thanks again all for the comments.
Connection from column to lyne arm is made with a few wraps of PTFE, a short piece of 11/16 to slip over the 5/8 pipe, held in place with a hose clamp, the connection from the lyne arm to the worm I brazed on a 5/8 to 1/2 reducer again I wrap a few turns of PTFE around the 1/2 end of the worm then insert into the reducer, I then wrap it a few more times around the whole connection. Here are the dimensions:
Note. All joints are brazed together except, the connection from the column to the lyne arm and the connection from the lyne arm to the worm.
