Woohoo! First Spirit Run!

Many like to post about a first successful ferment (or first all grain mash), or first still built/bought or first good run of the still. Tell us about all of these great times here.

Woohoo! First Spirit Run!

Postby RidgebackDad » Mon Apr 09, 2012 5:37 pm

Ok - am doing my first real spirit run - many, many, many thanks to fullhouse for the time and patience for putting up with my questions!

So, started two 5 gallon batches of BW - started with a SG of 1.085 and finished with 0.980 for an ABV of about 14%. Did a stripping run and ended up with almost 4 gallons of about 38% ABV.

Ran it through the reflux the first gallon was consistently 95% ABV the second gallon is still going. WOOHOO!!!!!

I *LOVE* this hobby!!!!!

Thanks to EVERYONE who answered my questions and took the time to reply!
