My first DIY project (parrot)

Many like to post about a first successful ferment (or first all grain mash), or first still built/bought or first good run of the still. Tell us about all of these great times here.

My first DIY project (parrot)

This is my first attempt at working with copper. The first pic is taken from an angle to hide my crappy soldering. The second is a glimpse into how much of a newbie I am. The second was taken after a lot of time was taken to try and clean it up. Lol

I like that output. Where did you get some copper in that shape? It may make for reading the alcometer at certain angles hard but it looks pretty classy. What about the base for the parrot? Or is it directly connected to your output of your still therefore not needing a base?

The output is a copper measuring scoop. I believe they come is sets of 3. That one was the 7oz scoop. You can find them on ebay for a pretty good price but you can also find them on there way overpriced. I got that one for $5 dollars as it wasn't in a complete set but I have seen them as complete sets for 15 to 20. They come with brass handles if that helps when searching. As for a base I just have a wood block with a hole drilled in it for now until I can come up with something that looks a little better.
