my first parrot

Many like to post about a first successful ferment (or first all grain mash), or first still built/bought or first good run of the still. Tell us about all of these great times here.
Pics are VERY welcome, we drool over pretty copper 8)

You need a software that will make the image small enough to fit on the forum. I use simple resize with my iPad and with my PC I have photoshop but most PC's have paint or another software to resize. Once you resize I think the limit is 800 x 600 then follow these instructions for uploading.

I predict some smearing of the runs in your future....

Large diameter tubes will hold up more of the distillate longer before emptying, thereby "averaging" a larger volume. Functional, but messy.

Do you have a "shorty" alcometer? The measurement tube looks short to measure high proof alcohol using a standard hydrometer. But, good soldering skills for sure.

edit - wait...how are you going to read the miniscus with the tee (drain) so low? You won't be able to see it will you? Do you know how a parrot works? Have you looked at anybody else's build? It appears you haven't researched enough before building....sorry.

Schiker,
Here's a link to the classic look for a parrot: http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... t#p7120881

Notice the liquid inlet is a small diameter tube and the hydometer tube will allow the alcometer to sink all the way. Also, the miniscus reading is at the top where the liquid "spills over into a catch basin before draining out of "the beak".

Thanks for the link, Still stirring. I don't know how well the parrot is going to work, tested it with water and now it is soaking in vinegar. The spill over tube (half inch) is the same height as the outer tube,(three quarter inch) so I hope to be able to read the alco meter clearly, I tested it for height and it accommodates my meter. Worst case scenario I'll make another one...
