Which Epsom Salt ?

Many like to post about a first successful ferment (or first all grain mash), or first still built/bought or first good run of the still. Tell us about all of these great times here.

There is a epsom salt for bath, Epsom salt as garden fertiliser, I am confused which one should I buy I am just trying to avoid making a mistake therefore I need your help, is there a brand that you can recommend ?

Thanks

Epson salt lasts for ever. Here is the one I have been using for years.

My on topic answer: Take the cheapest one.

My off topic answer: Take instead a bag of mineralic fertilizer.

Epsom Salt is Magnesium Sulfate (MgSO4). So long as what you're buying is 100% MgSO4, get the cheapest one. Bath salts and fertilizers are likely to have other things added to the mix.

I normally use this one .which costs around $4.00
Sanofi Epsom Salts.jpg
But my son was told he should bath in epsom salts , so I picked up a 20kg bag from the feed store for under $20 .
But when I got it home I saw it had quite obvious signage that the levels of Cadmium , murcury and lead were below 5ppm (Parts per million)
So I wondered about the levels in my supermarket box .It did not have an assay on it so I contacted them and was told that theirs was less than 10ppm.

So it appears that the fertilizer stuff was possibly better......anyways .....something to consider

You get 10x as much for roughly the same cost. You decide.

I think you get it in Turkey too. Do you have gardening stores there? Epsom salt is needed to grow coniferes. You only have to find out the turkish name for it.
Or try it without epsom salt. I never noticed a difference with or without.

I get my Epsom salts from CVS or Rite Aid. Just get the plain unscented variety.

My photo above is Rite Aid, never paid attention when I bought it as I didn't realize there was a difference which is why I have enjoyed this thread. It has been working for my as I only use a pinch and it has worked for hundreds of fermentations.
