Pumpkin Pie

Many like to post about a first successful ferment (or first all grain mash), or first still built/bought or first good run of the still. Tell us about all of these great times here.
Pics are VERY welcome, we drool over pretty copper 8)

Pumpkin Pie

Post by Nokum Stiff »

Hi all!

Since it's getting cooler here in the Northern woods, thoughts and smells of Fall are all around!
Everyone has had or at least heard of apple pie shine. (I'm well on my way of making more myself now that apples are abundant!) But how about pumpkin pie shine? Made some day before yesterday...boy is it GOOD!! It isn't something that one can sit around and drink due to the fact that it's rather "heavy", but for an after dinner drink, it fits the bill just right.

Cheers!

Hey, Nokum.
Sounds good. Saw the recipe and wondered if the 100 to 120 proof mellows out with the juice.
Love my shit strong, but not overpowering in a "relaxing" drink.

It was pretty hot right after I made it that's for sure. After sitting in the refrigerator for a couple days, it really does mellow out. At first I thought I should have made it with 80 maybe 90 proof instead, but this turned out very nice. You can tell its there, but it's enjoyable without being overpowering. Even a couple friends that don't drink much found it quite good.
