First Parrot with a Celtic twist

Now this was fun!

First ever attempt working copper let alone soldering. What a great metal to work with! I'll whip up a nice oak foot for it tomorrow.
I'm here to stay :D

....and with the foot. I have a CNC router in my workshop so I did a nice Celtic carving design.

Another suggestion for a base. I went to a granite supplier and got a free sample, they are heavy and will not tip. I capped the Potomac of my parrot then with a diamond bit drilled a hole part way down through the granite and glued the parrot.
PS: parrot looks great!

I will definately whip up another one with a stone base soon one day!
I have a CNC router in my workshop at home. I have bits for doing some amazing things in stone, but wood is closer to my heart! I added some new pics above...

Nice copperwork! Can hardly believe it is your first.
I wonder: are both pipes between the feed and the body of the parrot open?
I wonder if that would make any difference in the measuring.

The top cross piece is just for structural stability and is not open through.

Celtic and ancient Viking styles have a lot in common. One of my other hobbies is keeping forgotten old carving patterns alive by digitalizing them and creating vectors for my CNC router to carve out in wood or stone.

Like for example:

I also really look forward to exploring ways in which my cnc can aid in working copper (even if only ornamentaly) to create some unique twists in my many future still builds !!

Great piece of Copper/Celtic porn!! I used to be a wax carver in the jewelry profession and Celtic designs were always a challenge.
