So I am new to all of this and have already picked up that aluminum is apparently bad for cooking you wash/mash. Why is this? I have seen DONT USE IT but why? Thanks

High alcohol content over time will deteriorate aluminum as it is a reactive metal. Husker posted this fact sheet a while ago.

I deleted my original before posting this one since I felt that it was under the wrong category. But thanks for the info

Question regarding aluminum with high proof alcohol LIQUID. Understanding that alcohol vapors are corrosive and not recommended. But what about an aluminum pot for use with end product. For example proofing, mixing, etc.

Well looking for something a couple gallons in size. So glass would be tough. Will keep my eye out for stainless, but is aluminum okay? My reading from parent site indicates it would be okay for liquid. Not vapor....

Forget what the parent site states about aluminum... Copper or stainless steel only... When in doubt, refer to Rule #8 of The Rules We Live By...
