Piece of Soap in my wash what to do ?

Hi,

Today I made a new All Bran wash, at the end of the wash where I mix everything I saw a small piece of white soap I take it out, now it is fermenting but I am a bit hesitant if I did mix some more soap with the wash the easiest thing is to send it down the drain but Maybe that is not necessary I do not know how on earth I managed to do it but it happened, what can you recommend should I withdraw it or continue as it has never happened ?

No I did not it was a very small piece 2-3 mm at max but do not know if there was others it is bubbling nice at the moment could It cause problems ?

if it tastes ok, maybe consider a pat of butter when you fire it up as an anti-foaming agent.

Is there a layer of foam on top? Oh wait, I guess that's not a very good diagnostic...

Actually, if you got any significant amount of soap in there, you'll probably get a lot of foam. Like foaming out of the airlock amounts of foam. I think you'll know within the next 24 hours if you got much soap in there.

But if all else fails, the taste test is what matters. If there's not enough to taste or smell, then there's probably nor enough to worry about.

I wish this BBoard software had a way to +1 a post, because OtisT's last post certainly deserves it.

I already took it out but my concern is if it has leached soap to my wash, could this be a problem or it will already be fermenting so at the end it will be ok can we assume this like that ?

If it is real soap and not a synthetic detergent, it is the salt of sodium and a fatty acid. These fatty acids are made of vegetable oil, so are about 16 or 18 or 20 C-atoms long. Not harmful.
They might form esters or waxes with the alcohol, but I guess these are too large to be distilled.
Some soaps are scented with flavours, and these might dissolve and maybe be distilled. In that case you can make a gin with botanicals that go round this scent.
Another effect: due to the sodium it can raise the pH of your mash.
So: check the pH and the taste, let it ferment and distill it.
There is not much to lose, is there?

Thats a piece about the size of a match head , I wouldn't worry about .
Bet some folk have Rat turds and cockroaches bigger than that that go in with their sweet feed mixes

Ferment it dry and run it . After a few drinks , take a shower . If you see bubbles rising in the shower you may have perfected a novel party drink .

Can't admit that the situation is not funny Thanks guys today I checked the smell and taste it, it was bubbling like crazy, I think it like the soap anyway the smell and taste was OK, so I guess this would be ok.

No I am stilling in the roof, I would not do it in a bathroom.
