How the ^&$@ do people grind their grain?

I am using a drop through coffee grinder, but no matter what I do everything gets clogged when I try to sparge. Last time I went really coarse, and it was worse!

What grains are you using? The coursest setting on mine is still too fine? Little more info on your setup would be nice. I use a roller grain mill. Started out using a blender.

Although I haven't used this method, I just don't have the facilities to do it, some are now grinding the grains very fine, even to flour and using the boil-in'bag method. Ya might want to do a little research there.

You need a grain mill, not a coffee grinder.

I use a cheap "Carona" mill. I took off the handle, bolted on a pulley, and using double-reduction, slowed it down to about 50 rpm, and it does great with an old 1/2hp motor.

I just searched real quick, and they can be had for around $25.....

What equipment are you using for a false bottom if anything?
Brewhaus 2in Pot Still head, 15.5 gal keg, 4 inch 5 plate copper column, deplag & condensor

Hi. Just using mutton cloth over holes drilled in a bucket. Even without the cloth nothing comes out!

I use this thing with a power drill in place of the hand crank. I'm able to mill 55 pounds of grain in about 10 minutes.

EDIT: missing link

Could you post a picture of the grind? I used a double bucket to sparge when I first started 25 years ago with no problem.

Ah, thanks. Does this give you any flour or is the grind quite even, because my problem is that I always get flour with the crushed stuff?

Crushes very evenly...almost no flour. It's also adjustable so you can fine tune your crush.
