All about grains. Malting, smoking, grinding and other preparations.

Is cracked corn considered a grain

Post by jayareo » Thu Apr 23, 2020 10:55 am

Peeps -

So i have done some scouring, and found no answer to this; I am a homebrewer looking to expand my repetoire. Translating from beer speak to distiller speak, I am running about 90% on the translations. Among all my other questions, this one is first up in my 'need to know before i get started' list.

Thanks in advance.

How would the answer influence whatever decisions you need to make going forward ?

Yep . You will have better conversion results with AG if you grind it finer before you cook it .

What do you think cracked corn is made from..

If you have to ask the question, then maybe the hobby isn't for you, could be something to consider..

Thanks everyone for simple answers. And stillerboy, if you cant just answer a question, perhaps FORUMS ARENT FOR YOU?

I am a homebrewer @greggn, so when I read 'grain' and then 'cracked corn' in the same recipe - which are TOTALLY BOTH grains, I wonder if distilling treats them differently / separately.

Not sure I like how this thread is heading. Since the question has been answered I am going to close the thread.
