How does this thing work? The only way I can find links to some stuff is through the "Recent Changes" menu! Surely there has to be some linking from the main page? Like, why can't I see a link to "Stills"? Or am I an idiot???!!! Don't answer that!

I realise that we are all learning but perhaps it might be better to get it sussed a bit before getting all sorts of entries all over the place?
Cheers,
Lindsay.

I think the whole Wiki idea is great. But we will all have to work hard to get it stocked full of useful info. I think the list of emphasised topics on the main page should include still construction.

I love the new logo pic BTW, it looks much better.

if you want to put a link to stills in the main page, edit the main page and create the link like this: [[stills]].

when you save and read the changes, your "stills" link will go to the page "stills"

i changed it

Postby Professor Duck » Thu Jan 27, 2005 10:38 pm

Is it possible to make a link where the link text is different to where the link goes? Because I just put a link to "stills" on the main page then noticed that on the "distillation" page there's a link to a page called "still", and it would be stupid if there's two separate pages for the exact same topic.

now it looks like this: [[still|stills]] which means it says "stills" but links to "still". enjoy.

If you want to combine stills, still, distillation unit, etc, just write

[[still]]s
[[still]]
di[[still]]ation unit

or if you want to get fancy

[[jumbawamba|still]] will link to still

cool

Postby Uncle Jesse » Sat Jan 29, 2005 3:42 pm

88 new content pages and over 400 edits since the wiki started. not bad!

i have started two categories, equipment and recipes. at the end of your text use a category this way:

[[Category:Equipment]]

let's decide on some major categories beforehand so they don't get out of control.

well

Postby Uncle Jesse » Sun Jan 30, 2005 12:03 am

i see those more at topics than categories.

we don't want to have a large number of categories if we can avoid it.

Uncle Jesse: I put some wine recipes in our home page (wiki). But things are starting ta get out of control and I dont know how ta fix it. The problem is all the wine recipes that I put in are getting scatered through out the category section instead of staying under the link (wine recipes)
If ya know how ta fix this let me know or tell me where I can find the answer in the wiki help section appearntly I'm missing something

not sure

Postby Uncle Jesse » Mon Jan 31, 2005 12:50 pm

i'll take a look later on.

i'm sure we can make a big page "wine recipes" as well as the category...by inserting links instead of category tags.

glossary

Postby Uncle Jesse » Mon Jan 31, 2005 1:23 pm

i really, really like the glossary. i don't like the way it looks in the category though. should we split every definition into it's own page? then the glossary will look better.

Also, I think that the Kahlua recipes and Irish creme recipes should be under cordials or liquers with all the other cordial recipes. I don't know how to do that.

Was some browser setting for the WIKI page recently changed? I've tried using firefox(on two different computers) to view the page and in both cases, clicking on links no longer brings up a new page. In internet explorer the page still loads fine.

Never mind about the firefox problem. Turns out my ad block was blocking out the pages.

it took me forever

Postby Uncle Jesse » Wed Feb 02, 2005 12:44 am

i'm finally done splitting out all the glossary definitions into their own pages.

great content there mydbear, an excellent contribution.

many of the entries are wine-specific and/or need some editing...

I thought i'd get then there first,,and then clean/or edit them later(just one step at a time)plus I thought a good tasting wine ,run through a pot would make a fine brandy.

good deal - WIKI stats

Postby Uncle Jesse » Thu Feb 03, 2005 10:30 am

There are 485 pages that are probably legitimate content pages.

There have been a total of 6367 page views, and 1723 page edits since the wiki was setup. That comes to 1.17 average edits per page, and 3.70 views per edit.
