Fruit + ec1118... That should be all you need. You might or might not need to add water. Never mashed fig, but thankfully most fruit is pretty simple.

Check out the sticky threads for fruit washes and just adapt for the different fruit. Tater has got one up on peaches if my memory serves me correctly...

It's been awhile since the last time I fermented figs. Don't remember exactly how I did it but the outcome was good.
I remember putting the figs in a mesh bag and then mashing them into a pulp. The bag of figs was also reused for a sugar head. I also remember the yeast was very happy being fed figs.

That's only enough figs to add nutrients to a 5 gallon ferment. Not enough for fermentable sugar or flavor.

Sounds good! Great with a biscuit and a piece of ham or bacon! While you at it give me two eggs sunny side up after fried in bacon grease and then topped with a large serving of grits- salt cooked in. Yum yum!

Exactly this.
Despite all the other experiments, I still maintain that fig hooch is the closest to tequila we can make without doing it the authentic way.

If I can just give you one piece of advise it would be DO NOT EVER use bread yeast with figs, it WILL destroy the flavour and nothing you could do will fix it

An Iranian friend of mine uses figs, raisins, and dates to make wine. He doesn't use sugar.

Sounds like some potential here to find a faux tequila flavor.

ours is about their...some are ready...figure another week..
looks like an easy 50 gallons this year

depends on the birds,

heres the deal, tree fell over in a storm, it did not die,
now the branchs are on the ground, and the wild cats, climb the tree and ambush the birds
also, scare the hell out of you when your picking.the tree is THICK, cant see thru it
so you stick your head u in it looking for figs,
and your nose to nose to a big cat LOL

bootlegger, I mde preserves last year and played around,
after cooking the figs, i used my electric hand mixer {i call it my boat motor}
added a cup of chopped pecans to the figs

OH MAN!! THATS FINE

I bought a fig tree the year I bought my house, I also bought 2 cherries, 2 pears, and 2 plums. The fig immediately died. I was looking forward to trying something with figs too. :( I'm interested in hearing how the figs work out.

I also have a fig plant, it gets flowers and grows small fruit. Not knowing when to pick, the fruit fells off before I can pick it

Fine, indeed. Boy howdy I do like fresh whole figs, one of my favorite things in the world. Seems like they have a lifespan of about 20 hrs after being picked, so we don't see too many up here in Michigan.
Maybe I plan to be down around your place next summer, right about this time next year, eh Frodo?? Sounds so good!
