Bread yeast vs dady yeast

Post by Whitecap72 »

Can I use fleischmans bread yeast in place of Red star dady yeast for a whiskey recipe that I acquired?

So, I made up my corn mash today. Used 2.5 packets of the bread yeast for my 12 gallons, took off really nice. Hopefully next Sunday I will distill.

Its basicly a sweet feed recipe. 10 lbs of assorted grains with molasses, dark cane, and white cane sugar. I did add 2.5lbs of honey as well. Mash looks nice and active with the bread yeast.

If ever in doubt just make a yeast stater first. That never hurts and is a bonus for me in cooler months if yer in the northern hemisphere
