apple vodka

Post by maritime »

i was asked to make a apple flavored vodka.
this is 40% birdwatchers with a granny smith and a gala all sliced up.
not looking for sweet, just a crisp apple. a gal i know drinks those apple martini's. thought i would try and help her out, she doesn't have much money to buy it.
Image
looks pretty. i'll give it till next week and open it up for a swig.
this will go through a coffee filter before it leaves the house.

Put a table spoon of lemon juice in it. Keeps the flavor better and keeps it from turning brown.
you are right. it took a slight amber color. just like apple juice.
it came out ok, not my favorite. but it won't go to waste.

What do you reckon are the best type of apples for this?

I love fruit infused neutral - I make loads of stuff with bananas.

Boozehound -- you do a banana infusion?? You wanna give us a few of the details? If the answer is yes go ahead and start a new thread so it don't get buried in here.

thanks

Banana infusion is cake to do. I use a gallon jug and about 10 chunked bananas. I tsp of lemon juice and about 5 drops of NATURAL almond extract.....then top it off with purified. Just over the bananas. Try to use the brownish bananas. Just at the stage where the kids aren't sure if they should eat them. Shake every day for a week or so then put it in a closet for a month or so and strain through cheese cloth. Then work your magic with some sugar after cutting to around 50 proof. This, BTW, goes GREAT with Coca Cola.

1 tall glass filled with Ice cubes
1 shot Banana Boogie ( that's what I call it)
Top off with 2% Milk
( additional sugar if you want it)
(for fun, you can blend this too.)

Its "different" but quite refreshing on a hot day.
Note: this is a casual drink. Not a good idea to put on a buzz with this drink.

I fermented 4 gallon of apple juice earlier this year and ran through my still... Man it is really good as well. You have to use pure apple juice though with no preservatives.
I am infusing some peaches in some neutral right now.

Your gonna love the apple

There just ain't enough time to do all the things that need to be done!! Apples, bannanas, H***, I got some rhubarb macerating right now! My Aunt make the best rhubarb pie and I've been eatin' it for about 55 years, just had to try some rhubarb booze.

I'll bet those apple slices would make a great dessert of some kind! :D :D :D

Autumn time so lots of fruit around.

I'm trying an experiment with unripe, green crabapples in neutral. They are sour as hell but for some reason I thought it might turn out alright.

Only been in the jar a week but I'll post when they've extracted enough flavour - probably about a month.

I made a nice drink using double proof white dog and fresh pressed apple juice. I simple added enough juice to the likker to reach 15% abv. Took a long time to clear, but when it finally did, it made a real nice drink. Not a vodka, but some sort of apple wine, or something.

Just looking at that jar makes me hungry!!
I bet that would make for a great apple pie shot. Add some cinimon and a dash of brown sugar to a small ammount, let it age a week or two, and have a try. Thinking of trying something now!! :D
