Chardonnay oak chips ???

Post by JimmyPage »

My favourite bought tipple is Chardonnay oak casked whisky.

If I am making up a Still Spirits single malt essence, is it possible to add chardonnay oak chips to season it ?

If so, where would I get them, or could I make them ?

Cheers all :)

Cannot find any chardonnay oak per se.
However, seems to be a few people soaking their plain oak chips in chardonnay for 2 weeks and going that route.

Hang on, though. Maybe someone here at HD has a better solution for you.

Alternatively, make your own with your favorite wine. Try a couple varieties of wine with your whisky to see what you like best. Put a drop or two in your glass of whiskey, give it an hour or overnight, then try it. You want to let the flavors marry a bit before you try it.

(doah! Still Life beat me to it)

Because you will use the essence too, I think you will overoak it.
