Old Toast
Does a previously toasted stave/domino/cube lose its flavoring potential if unused for a period of time (e.g. a few years) ?

NO! the flavor is "Locked" at the cellular level inside the wood...if the stave is kept dry, I think it would last almost indefinitely.

Re: Old Toast
I have some "toasted ones" from about 3 years ago - I char them and they do just as well as fresh - Don't know if tehy keep well once "charred" - but toasteed they're good for a few years.

Yep, the oak had been stored in a dry, dark place.
After two weeks without a reply I went ahead and added the old toasted cubes ... they're producing aromas and color as they first did two years ago.
