So I'm driving to work this morning and they're talking about a BC ruling that if you are medically allowed to use marijuana, the government can't MAKE you buy from who they say or prohibit you from growing your own as that is unconstitutional. Then he goes on to say, "you can grow up to 15lb's of tobacco and make your own alcohol, SPIRITS, beer and wine, this is the same thing." He specifically said SPIRITS, beer and wine.
Now, as far as I know, tobacco was a controlled substance but I could be wrong, don't smoke so I never looked into it. But SPIRITS? For him to specifically say that and not the generic "make booze/liquor/alcohol/etc" is very interesting. I believe it's more ignorance on his part than some change in law, but nevertheless, it speaks well for anyone caught with a still who wasn't selling.
Right after that it went on about a gold medal that was won by a Canadian hockey player during the olympics who was selling it and other hockey memorabilia to invest with his son in a distillery in Texas.
Good news about distilling X 2

Numerous 57L kegs, some propane, one 220v electric with stilldragon controller. Keggle for all-Grain, two pot still tops for whisky, a 3" reflux with deflag for vodka. Coming up, a 4" perf plate column. Life is short, make whisky and drag race!

Not sure about Ontario, but down here at the local beer/wine brew shops they've sold the airdistiller for years and now I see they've got the bigger turbo 500's or whatever for sale. There is certainly no "moonshiner" mentality about it and the shops will freely tell you the names of town cops/RCMP etc that have bought them/use them.
I just looked and there is nothing about distilling on the noble grape site.
Huh, the 'mericans are more right wing and we're more libertarian I guess as opposed to left wing.

The trick is, we're all socialists in denial.
I'm trying to imagine what one would do with a purchased gold medal. Wear it like a rapper?

The judge either knows something we don't, or, like you said, clueless. It is odd to hear it brought up like that.
Didn't know about Belfour! Interesting and I hope it works out well!
