If your happy with colder weather...because your mash heater will keep the fermenter temps just right.
Also if you have a cat named pop-corn that sleeps on top of the warm mash barrels.

Your SOH knows how to check the SG of your wash. When you tell her you,are going to get propane she says "you got a run to do tonight? " and bbq doesn't even cross her mind. And she understands what backset, cuts, abv, mash, wash, etc mean yet she has never touched a still.

... when you go to the cashier and tell her: "Okay, now that's 17 packages of sugar, 1.5 kilo each, and 12 boxes of rye bread". And she answers: "SEVENTEEN!?!"

Anyhow, starting up another batch today. Rye beer with backset. And some chicken grit for better PH control.

If you've spent a couple of days trying to figure out what that occasional ping sound is across the house, that sounded like a little puppy giving a very very short little bark, only to discover it's the disks on your mason jars popping as the house temperature changes.

I had a bunch in jars on oak, sitting in my window sill, and at least once a day, from across the house I'd hear this little ping sound, very short, like a quarter of a second. Almost sounded like a tiny dog giving a very short bark or yelp. Everyday I'd hear it, could not figure out what the hell it was. Then one day I was near the jars and heard it. It was the disks on the mason jars flexing and eventually popping as the stuff either warmed or cooled. That one took a while. :)
When it comes to life's experiences, I don't want to think that I've only seen the tip of the iceberg, I'd rather think that I haven't even found the ocean yet.

You spend a day stillin and just hit your easy chair , drink in hand , to check up on HD when SOH comes in from work with a clear nose and comes over to give you a hug and kiss . If she reels back and says ,'You need a shower and a change of clothes ; you smell like a distillery !' You might be a stiller ............. Also explains some of the funny looks I have gotten from strangers standing in line at the local convenience store when I have made a quick run out for a 30 pack after a day's stillin ...............

Laughed Cuz just a few days ago I got to work, and noticed I splashed a bit when transferring to my ferment bucket after cooking up some corn. Big gob of what looked like dried baby food.

And...if you ever cooked spaghetti and thought "what a waste of starch" when you strain and rinse.

 Pick me . Ran up to the local pub for a 30 pack and ran into a fellow stiller . Exchange went like this :
"Whatcha doin buying that crap when you are making better ?"
(Me)"Don't know what you are talking about . I ain't made nothing in years ."
"Don't tell me that when you are picking your nose with a fingernail covered in flour paste ."
I was just scratching the side of my nose with that finger , I swear .
