What I mean is I've progressed in less than 1 year to a good drink.
This Honey Bear Bourbon is a treat from pipe to gullet.
I was tasting my usual weekend distillation of same and thought the taste was too smooth.
Not watery.
Too smooth.
Too good. No sting.
Thought maybe the alcohol content was down. Maybe a weak ferment.
Tested. The alcoholmeter showed 70% ...!!!
I did not mean to drink that high a proof, but it happened nonetheless and was smooth as my first girlfriend's ass.
Is this something that I must watch for now? Something so good its taste is immaculate and needs to be moderated carefully?
Is this a graduation point in home distilling?

Yes on the second part . On the smoothenss of that first girlfriend's ass : it was your first touch so what did you compare it to ? Sheep , goats , a handful of Dial soap in the shower ?

Reminds me of a comment my wife's cousin from Norway made to me years ago:
Talking about something I ate, I said: This tastes like shit!
My wife's cousin responded: How would you know?

Many seem to like it that way. .... I find, especially with something "whiskeyesque" that I miss the "Bite" too. I presume you're running a pot or pot mode - as I do and I often put some or even most of the heads back in for that reason - You'll find a lot of flavour in the tails portion too !Still Life wrote:

There. I fixed that for ya.Still Life wrote: Is this something that I must watch for now? Something so good its taste is immaculate and needs to be moderated carefully glutinously devoured, preferably in a hedonistic orgy of scent and flavor worthy of Dionysus himself. Because we know how to make more.
Distilling at 110f and 75 torr.

Yep --pot still mode. Just love this Honey Bear's grain bill flavor too much to neutralize.Pikey wrote: Many seem to like it that way. .... Shineon Crazy Diamond should get the key to the city for this recipe.
