One two - three ounce pour of gin, add one green olive. Basic and effective.

Boozpipe. I grew up watching MASH and loved that still in the series. As a kid my dad helped me make on that was similar looking, Frankenstin monster looking, giving me more things to burn. :-).

Is this about their still, or just the drink? Would love to see what ya got if ya have a still like that.

Not a functioning apparatus. There appears to be more than one iteration,,,but none of them should be considered "working" stills.

As described by Hawkeye; the perfect Martini

"You pour six jiggers of gin into a glass and then you drink it while staring at a picture of Lorenzo Schwartz, the inventor of vermouth."

Somewhere I have the recipe for home made vermouth...but I was never big on martinis...that said, if a martini is the only game in town...YOU BET YA !

It was a cute prop. I blow glass and would like to make a small desktop novelty still that works. Its just been too hot here to fire up the torch.
I have colored glass so it could look all wild and crazy. Gold and silver fumed with coiled condensers with an octopus and an owl perched on the output tube.

The martini is in reference to what Hawkeye drinks, a martini "drier than dry". I also grew up watching the show, but no, I don't have a still like theirs. I wish I did!

Saw this and it caused a flashback.
MANY years ago, my neighbor in the apartment complex asked if I knew any bartenders. He was manager of the Hilton and had several events coming up and was shorthanded. I told him I had tended bar in college (but didn't tell him it was mostly opening beers and mixing bourbon &coke and vodka and Hawaiian Punch).

He hired me and I showed up and luckily a good looking Old Pro was with me. The event was for a large law firm and their guests. One of my first customers was an old guy with a cane and a nurse asking for a martini. So as I recall I chilled the glass and some gin. When they were ice cold I put just enough dry vermouth in to swirl and coat the glass, threw out the rest. Then filled it with the gin and topped it with the olives.

About twenty minutes later he showed back up by himself.
"I had to slip away for another martini. I'm only supposed to have one a day but that is the BEST martini I've ever had in my life young man".
Then he slipped a nice tip in the jar, impressing the hell out of my partner.
I assured her it was dumb luck and laughed my ass off.
