Know what you don't know :] Every time I start to dig into how legislation actually gets passed, I eventually swoon and wake up half naked and covered in my own drool.

Strangely, this also appears to be an important part of the legislative process.

A very important part of it rocketman. Without this step there would be far less blackmail opportunities.

Do we need 100% sponsorship to go to a vote? At this point do more sponsors matter? There not much time left in this session and rather than vote on meaningful tax reform they're busy trying to decide what bathrooms to use ;)

We are pushing to get this to the floor, but a rather small bill like this has little chance of moving unless attached to something larger, so we are working on finding other legislation that fits.

If it doesn't happen in the next month or so, you can say goodbye to it this term. I don't think much will get done after the election.

I am told that there will likely be some tax extenders that we may be able to get in with, so it could happen up to the end of the year. However, Congress is not working much between now and then, so it certainly does not give much time.

I just, once again, told my son that I was making beer. Hurts every time. Kid could be a master by the time he's 13.

I hear you i have used the beer word a few times.... funny thing is now i dont hardly drink beer any more...

i finally told one of my boys hes 24 now.... the one i trust the most. told him what would happen if i got into the Law Dogs Spotlight... he gets it. few close friends know and thats it. it is sure fun though to see how much more sophisticated his pallet is than mine was at that age... musta been the nurture part more than nature.

BACK on Topic ...
i hear the congress folks are heading back to Washington to start working again for us the people... what can we do to encourage progress on this topic?

I just spoke with someone from Senator Portman's office. He said there is little chance of this going through. He said the only hope is that if it gets attached to the large Omnibus Bill, which will fund the government. It's not looking good from what I am hearing.

No news is, well, no news. The TTB remains supportive, but they cannot help in any way aside from confirming that our provision in the bill, as it stands, meets with what they would like (ie. lifting most of the enforcement burden from them without a tax loss). They have seen substantial cuts to their budget, which means a reduction in manpower, yet have even more on their plates with all of the growth in the craft brewing and distilling industries. Our bill would actually relieve some of that burden.

Support for the bill is huge now- 64% in the House and 49% in the Senate, and that is just those who have signed onto the bill! However, it needs to get to the floor, and we need to ensure that we are in the final version if/when that happens.

There is a large Omnibus bill looming ... it's the DEBT CEILING Reauthorization (expansion). It's already a target for add-ins. Why not target this bill?

My senator told me that Omnibus is the only hope of going to vote on this one.
