Do ethanol burners run on liquid or gas?
I'm curious how one gets from a bottle of liquid ethanol to a gas burner?
I don't argue, I debate.

The liquid alcohol doesn't burn. The vapors it gives off does. Same holds true with most all fuel. So in an alcohol burner you would need to use the heat generated by the burner to heat the liquid to turn it into a gas. They normally need some kind of kickstart to get them going. Like the little hand pump on camp stoves. Smaller lower BTU burners or candles don't need as much pressure and volume of gas. so they can usually be started with just a flame.

There are all kinds of them out there. From POP can alcohol stoves to some really technical ones. Rad has a bunch of posts around here about the ones made with POP cans.segaskin wrote:Has anyone seen a diy for ethanol emergency heat/cooking? Gotta love it when you can heat up your food or drink your misery away.
I prefer to burn my my fores/heads and save the good stuff to drink.
