heads for smoke-less portable fireplaces

Post by Demonic »

These indoor portable fire places intrigue me. Reviews I have read say the fuel is realy expensive. So wondering if the heads I normally pitch would work and burn clean enough?? Any thought...... might be nice ambiance while I sip some shine

You can build your own. There are a few posted around here somewhere. Made from leftover copper pipes. More like a multi flame candle. But their pics show orange yellow flames. They would need to add something to the ethanol to burn that color. Since it burns blue.

Atomic absorbtion and emission. That is the fancy-pants words for what you are describing there Prairiepiss.

this website lists just a few salts that will produce different colored flames. Dissolving sodium chloride and sodium borate in the heads may produce the desired colors. I suspect that is what they are doing.....

I'll spare you the science lecture about how this works cause you can google it if your really interested, but the core principal is how neon signs can be produced in different colors.
