Some pay attention to their past, and none of your ancestors ever disstilled 18% anything.
Looks like you got some building skills, good work! Generally on this forum if you ask for some
opinion you will get it straight, not suger coated.
Like Rad said you should do some more reading.

Been reading quite a bit.............steep learning curve!

Apologies if my humour seems a little heavy-handed at times, guess irony & a twinkle in the eye doesn't translate well to 'cyber-speak'

Still reading, Boss, still reading :D

I gave my advice. How you use it is up to you. Yes I'm a bloody American. But that has nothing to do with the fact that I pointed out some serious safety issues. I will stand behind my comments. When someone new to the hobby sees a still build pick. But don't yet know enough about the safety aspect. They can misinterpret as being a safe still. And get bad ideas in their heads. So safety issues need to be pointed out. Not only for your safety. But for many others that may see it.

Like you safety popoff valves you speak of. Your still should be designed around not needing them. Not adding them to make a bad design safe. You are using gas as a heat source. What happens if it does blow the cork out? Alcohol vapors pouring out and down towards the flames. Can you say flame thrower.

It links to me you could build a nice still. With the skills you have. You just need to know what a good still is. That's where the research comes in. A full understanding if theorys if the different stills is a must. If you want to deviate from the standard still types. Safety is the number one priority. For you and those around you.
