I needed to get a new post up so I could add my current still photos to my signature line. Its basically the exact same combo LM/VM still that I had before, only this time the connections are all tri-clamp. My old still was all large unions and they were a PITA (brass had to be pickled and threads would gall requiring two 14" pipe wrenches to assemble-disassemble.
Setup for spirit runs with packed 36" column:
Close up of components at top of still:
Setup for stripping runs:
I will be making a mod to this VM arm in order to be able to run in pot still mode. I will remove the valve and replace with a copper coupling and instead of where the Boka head sits, I will place a 2" tri-clamp blank / cap.
My liebig is 3/4 over 1/2" about 36" long. It was powerful enough when doing strip run tests using the VM arm rather than the boka head so I know it can knock down the vapour at full power without any packing in the riser.
All packed away for storage:

Looks nice cardinalbags. Triclamps are a pleasure to use.

Wow. Thanks for posting this. Is there anything you have changed to this set up since?

Re: My Still Rebuilt
Insulation only. It is insulated up to the valve on the VM takeoff and to the underside of the boka slant plate module, otherwise it is as shown earlier in this thread.

Re: My Still Rebuilt
Noice.
CB, your rig looks amazingly like mine. Except I have a concentric reflux condenser in lieu of the coil and boka on yours. Otherwise, they're similar. My boiler is also Reflectex covered. And the reflux column too. I have a VM into shotgun instead of a Liebig like yours. But they're definitely "brothers of different mothers".
Good job man.

Re: My Still Rebuilt
Cardinal bags, I see you're in NS too. I have access to 57L kegs if you want to replace your pot. Harris&Roome are in Halifax and I work there so we could meet if you want?
Nice set up by the way.
Nice set up by the way.
Numerous 57L kegs, some propane, one 220v electric with stilldragon controller. Keggle for all-Grain, two pot still tops for whisky, a 3" reflux with deflag for vodka. Coming up, a 4" perf plate column. Life is short, make whisky and drag race!
