New small pot still

Post by Fishy60 »

I built a smaller more traditional stove top pot still from my left over Copper. No thumper just pot to worm.

Nice job  , perfect little Gin still if you use a maceration method.
You might have trouble running it on that stove top if it has a thermostat, it would run fine on a gas stove though.

Have to admire the do-it-yourself spirit. Gorgeous.

You probably mean simmerstat, Bill. I reckon it is possible to replace a stove simmerstat with an scr voltage controller. An on/off switch would have to be added unless the potentiometer had one.

Nice.
How do you open and close it?

It opens like a regular old pot still with a cap. Left myself plenty of room to clean this time. I actually ran it on the stove last night but had to constantly adjust it but got a pretty good run out of it believe it or not.

I should have guessed, but could in the pictures not see the difference between the pot and the helmet. Very nice!!
I envy you!

That's a real beaut, fishy, I do enjoy seeing home brewed copper pots!
It should make you a nice little rig.
Shouting and shooting, I can't let them catch me...
