Hi all!
Finally got around to getting the parts necessary to build the spear for my pony keg thumper. A couple more measurements, loose assembly, final inspection, solder and she'll be ready to go!

Re: Spear for Thump Keg
Well look at what we have here! Just a couple connections left to solder and shes ready to get cleaned and sanitized!
I'm thinking on shortening the line that runs from the boiler to the thumper and sealing the connections with flour paste when I'm running. The only reason for this is to keep the the pieces modular for ease of moving and cleaning.
But I was wondering...what kind of PSI is there in that line and will a simple flour paste be able to keep it sealed? I know "some" pressure is built up in order to push the steam out of the pipe through the medium in the keg. Should I solder the connections or would the paste work?

Re: Spear for Thump Keg
1/4 - 1/2 psi or so, flour paste will work but is a pain to redo it each time. Solder with a removable connection i.e. union or tri-clamp is easier. Your choice.

Get you a can of cheepest biscutts an touch up as needed. You want the ones that stick. Always wrap a rag around it an use self risin flour. It gives it somethin to push against.
All dependin on your outfit you can make a meal on it if need be.
