How would one assemble a 28 gallon Copper Band Rig
I have been running 5 gallons a while now, though they don't fill casks quick enough. I'm not much of a builder and I was wondering if some of you well versed folks could point me in the right direction how to build such a still out of all copper, I'm not asking someone to hold my hand and tell me how to do it I am just wondering what are the mathematical techniques of judging how much material and what kind of shapes I could cut the copper into . I would likely be running it on fire in the woods in a mud oven due to me living in the city so it may need to be a little thicker walled then most. I cannot tig so I would have to go with copper.

I know of these templates and they aren't the full file, I'm more less looking to understand the math of making such templates and finding the thickness for myself and others who wish to build such rigs

I am learning from looking through the thread, the knowledge is a little deeper then expected but that is what is wanted of individuals on here. Do your research, no one will hold your hand but they are kind enough to point you in the right direction.

look at the link myles posted, it shows the scale to make it bigger, I think you need to scale by 1.6.
Spankey posted the full templates, so scale them up

I really gotta touch up on my Arithmetic
I will have to browse the construction site a while to remind me how it all works

Copper isn't too tricky its just expensive. You can practically cut it with scissors (okay, tin snips or 'big' scissors), you just need to know what shapes to cut, then do a little bending, riveting, and soldering. Or welding. Then you've got an all-copper still! Easy-peasy
Definitely check out the templates.

There have been times I've been to a scrappy and the copper bin has had everything I would need to build a boiler and a couple of types of still head, all at a very good price per lb.

Ok a few ways to go here. First figure out about how many gallons you want, then the dimensions of the material you will be using. Next ask yourself if you want tall and skinny or short and fat or somewhere in-between.
There are 231 cubic inches in a gallon.
Diameter) circumference ÷ π
Circumference) diameter ×π
Area of a circle) diameter × diameter × 0.7854
Volume of a cylinder) area × height
Cubic inches to gallons) ci ÷ 231
Next up is the frustum or cone, it is long and there are calculators online to do it for you with changeable values. I am way too lazy to type this out and try to explain it at the moment, so here is a site that tells you how to do it. https://www.analyzemath.com/Geometry/co ... ustum.html
And here is a site that calculates for you.

I hope this helps. Any more questions feel free to ask.

Nesting is very important when working with sheet metal. With a few modifications here and there to the original sizing plan while keeping the same volume, you can fit all the cuts you need on one sheet most of the time.

Re: How would one assemble a 28 gallon Copper Band Rig
something I noticed is if you look at the cone the guy draws there is no overlap on one side, you usually find overlap on blueprints for frustums and I feel like that may be for making the flat lock, riveting or welsh seam.
