bacon

Post by frodo »

gotta love it, its a food group,

you like bacon on your sammich?

pre heat your oven 400 degrees,

take a pound of bacon out of the pack, cut it in half

on a cookie sheet weave your bacon...over / under

place the wire rack over the bacon...15 minutes in the oven

put on your sammich

What does SOH actually stand for. I know it means wife here, just don't know what the acronym stands for.

I just googled it, 'sense of humor' is the only thing that came up.

SO would be 'significant other', I don't know what the H is for

My wife makes a delicious wilted spinach salad with bacon and some other stuff. One day I was cookin up some bacon and wife and kids were in the kitchen, one asks whatcha makin. Salad I say. And proceed to sit down and eat the bacon. Ever since then bacon is known as salad in our house. I can put away a lb of salad no problem. What are some of your favorite ways to eat bacon? Those weaves are incredible, I gotta make one some day. Bacon wrapped asparagus is nice. Chestnuts too. Thick cut apple smoked bacon is my fav, cooked until it gives just a little. Like eating heavenly pork jerky.
In theory there's no difference between theory and practice. But in practice there is.

The wife and I recently discovered what will likely be attributed to my early demise, candied bacon.... It's dead simple to make and goes great on a burger, salad, waffle you name it.

1 lb bacon, spread out on parchment paper on a full sheet pan
Sprinkle liberally with brown sugar (I usually use about a half cup), then some black pepper and cayenne or chipotle.
Load it in a cold oven, set it to 400 and let it go for 20 minutes. Then keep an eye on it until it's done, it'll go from almost done, to done to "oops" quick so be careful.

Also, I think it's important to note that I have no financial ties to any of the statins on the market and this is a wholly unsolicited recipe, Try at your own risk.
