SPICED BLACK WALNUT LIQUEUR
Ingredients:
1 cup neutral 40-50%
2 cups whiskey 40-45%
1 pound black walnuts (coarsely chopped)
8 allspice berries
1 cup simple syrup
Directions:
1. Combine neutral, whiskey, walnuts, and allspice berries in a half gallon mason jar or something with a larger opening than a bottle. Stir to moisten.
2. Seal the jar and put in a cool dark cabinet until the liquid smells and stastes strongly of black walnut. (usually 7-10 days).
3. Strain the mixture into a clean quart jar. Do nut push on the solids to extract more liquid.
4. Stir in the simple syrup.
5. Seal and store in a cool dark cabinet or refrigerator.
Makes about 1 quart.
