Whiskey Liqueur

Post by CoonskinNZ »

My third go at making a Glayva style whiskey liqueur:

I like it.

2 cups of home made whiskey 45% ABV, trying to get end result near 30%
Zest of 1 mandarin (no tangerines in supermarket), i just used a potato peeler and thinly peeled the outside with as little pith as possible.
1 star anise
10 cloves
1/4 of a nutmeg grated
2 cm of a stick of cinnamon (so easy for the cinnamon to overpower everything).

Leave it in a sealed jar for 2 days with a couple of shakes during that time.

Filter/strain out the bits.

2 more cups of whiskey.

2 cups of raw sugar syrup, dissolved in 1.5 cups of boiling water, cool and combine with whiskey mix.

Let it blend for a day, warms my cockles.

I originally tried honey but found it left sediment, I used the clearest honey I could find but it still had wax in it I guess.

Thanks guys. :-)
