Aging Bourbon at Sea

Thought folks might find this interesting. Especially the sailors among us!

Easiest way to avoid being on a TTB list is to not purchase a boiler, full column, or condensor from a retailer. Build your own.

Imagine that! I'm thinking the boat doesn't need to be in the water now does it? I mean given the price of gasoline these days it'll make my oversized lawn ornament somewhat "useful".

I keep most of my bottles in the attic, one summer really smooth's things out. Unfortunately, the attic won't float.

Just make a raft to float in the pool, and lash some barrels to it...then make sure the kids swim everyday :shifty:

Interesting. Would this also work with oak chips or is it mostly for barrels?

Teeter totter lined with barrels. And an electric motor to rock it back and forth.

Put your barrel in a baby cradle, a small motor will rock it. Throw a blanket over it and put a lightbulb inside on a 12 hour timer. You'll get rocking and significant temp swings.

Put it next to your bed, with baby toys dangling off it. Then when the TTB knocks on your door and sees that arrangement you might get off on insanity plea

The ground moves enough in Iceland (and N Cal) that you probably just put it down.

Barrels, you get no air exposure with chips.
What about placing a barrel on a rocking chair?
That was a method in my area 'back in the day'. A 'teedum barrel' strapped to granny's rocking chair ...............

Engine Ageing... Insulate, and pad sufficiently, a jar of your favorite hooch... Secure in the engine bay, close to the motor, in the spring or fall. I chose spring and fall, as the two most likely times to see extreme temp fluctuations. Drive as normal. You get heat, cold, and agitation. Whadaya think? Huh, huh?

I envision a rather large clean blue flame emanating from every crack in the hood, grill and heater vents. Followed shortly by the acrid smell of burning rubber hoses and wire.

The swingin barrel at Woodshed. Comparing the virtues of swinging to static.
The pull line leads out of the barrel room to a high traffic area. Pass by and give a tug.
Also right in line with forced air heater/fan which pushes it around a bit.

I toss a couple of gallons with oak chips in my truck. In between the temp changes from night to day and my aggressive driving habits, it gets agitated good enough.
