That would be great if I lived where they had natural gas.

If you are in the Portland, OR area, a good deal is to be had, and one that can be shared by many here with a box and address label:

Copper pipe in 20' sticks.

54 PIECES 20' LONG 2" COPPER PIPE $120 for 20' STK
9 PIECES 20' LONG 2 1/2" COPPER PIPE $175 for 20' STK
19 PIECES 20' LONG 3" COPPER PIPE $250 for 20' STK
11 PIECES 20' LONG 4" COPPER PIPE $350 for 20' STK

ALSO HAVE MISC FITTINGS (SEE PICTURES)
WILL SALE INDIVIDUALLY OR PACKAGE DEAL
https://portland.craigslist.org/grg/mat/6059963338.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

I will be there on Friday, and am happy to pick these up in any increments people want, although, I will be cutting them to 12' lengths at max. No trailers go to Portland behind my truck, as they just attract transients to build tents. (a joke for those from Portland)..

PM me if you want, I'm thinking of grabbing a 4", 3", 2", and any associated fittings. Others may want other configurations.

Some serious plumbing in that collection. Would be beautiful to see them employed here.

Nice! Looks smaller than 100 ml, so can be useful.

Cousin just got back to me and he thought the milk cans were around 3/8" thick said they are very heavy and he filled with water and said they are just under 8 gallons so better deal than I thought.

Good luck with those - that winery went out of business sometime in the early 90's so at best they have been sitting around empty for about twenty years. On the plus side you will likely have to rebuild them so adding a char while they are dissembled should be easy.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Damn, you Portland guys are getting all the good stuff lately. Wish I could get down that way, I'd go for one of those barrels, old or not I figure it's doable. I'd go for some of that copper Hank Reardon found too.

Just took a closer look at the craigslist copper sale - it's not in Portland but just outside of Oly Wa. Any of you Washington folk want to go in on a buy? 17.50 a foot for 4" - 12.50 for 3" and 6.00 for 2"

Medstiller was kind enough to help me obtain one of these 13 gal barrels.
The barrel is very well made, heavy oak, light tight joints, beefy hoops... Inside looks like fresh tastey oak (will need to burn that a bit)

No idea if any are left but I will vouch for these being beautiful barrels, thanks Med!

Going to the metal scrapyard today hoping to find some sheet metal to make a Kentucky style frustum for the top of my milk kegs.

Big day at the scrap yard:
image.jpeg
3 pieces of heavy walled 4" pipe, 48", 36" and 30", 1 piece of 2-1/2" x 30", and a 16 gallon brew kettle to boot.
The 4" was a bit spendy at about $15/foot, but seemed like a good deal? The 2-1/2" hunk was $18, and the kettle was only $15.
I figure I can use some of the 4" for a plated column and the 2-1/2" for sight glass stock. I'm guessing I have more 4" than I need, but couldn't just leave it there.

Did you even run your current plater yet?
or are you going to build a new one before you make a run in the first one?

Well, that's an excellent observation, SP.
I was just trying to explain my lucky finds to a friend last night and eventually had to admit that it might be more about the thrill of the hunt than actually needing a plated column.

I do need to get that ratty contraption back out and running though, thanks for the reminder.
