Keep your eyes pealed at homedepot. Although they don't sell 2" pipe at the ones near my house, for some odd reason they were carrying some 2" fittings. I purchased 3 2" copper elbows for 4 bucks each -- as well as two 2" couplers for 3.50 each. They may be dumping their larger fittings...maybe in multiple locations.

Re: Anybody get any good deals lately?
Mine were from a print shop (newspaper). It was some sort of press cleaning chemical. Can't remember what it was and have since removed the labels. So, they're going back in the trash - no big deal, they were free.RandyMarshCT wrote:I've used these that have had chemicals in them for storing my backset. The chemical that was in mine was sodium hydroxide, used for cleaning restaurant equipment (food-safe if neutralized). I easily neutralized it with boiling water and vinegar, which took the smell away as well. Don't know if you knew what chems were in there, but some aren't as big of a concern. If you didn't know... better safe than sorry!S-Cackalacky wrote:Great find Billybones. I found 2 five gallon ones that look like those, but it turns out they had chemicals in them. So, I don't think I'll be using them. Don't know which is worse - finding out they were used for chemicals or having to put them back in the trash.

Picked up a six pack of beer today for $8.99, which usually sells for $10.99, for a four pack. Bourbon Barrell Ale, from a KY brewery. They age the beer in used bourbon barrells. The local grocery store has a "build your own six pack" section, where you can pick different brands to make your own six pack. I couldn't pass it up, and will probably go back for more.

Re: Anybody get any good deals lately?
scored a half-barrel sanke keg off craigslist yesterday for $20. Looks like it's been in somebody's backyard for a while - but it will clean up just fine. Most I see listed are anywhere from $50 to $100. And at that price they seem to go fast!
Easiest way to avoid being on a TTB list is to not purchase a boiler, full column, or condensor from a retailer. Build your own.

Re: Anybody get any good deals lately?
On Craigslist in the Maple Valley area I spent 30 bucks for a 92 pound, 100 gallon stainless steel drum. Brand spanking new, the lid looks like a mirror. That works out to .33 cents per pound for stainless steel. Scrap round' here pays .34 cents per pound.
I try to get 45 gallons of birdwatchers one weekend a month done. Have only been doing neutrals because I don't have much more than a beer keg still and a few fermenters . So for me, finding something that I can use as a mash tun to make an equal amount of AG is like a Christmas miracle and well worth the money.
My first stop? Jimbo's wheated bourbon.

Bought 3 one gallon glass jugs for $5 last weekend at the flea market. They normally go for 10 or 12 dollars/each around here.

Re: Anybody get any good deals lately?
Well maybe does. I bought a gallon of that shite 6 months ago. I have 3/4 gallon left sitting in the jug that I cant bring myself to either dump or drink. So its a non usable jug to me now cause theres shite in it, AND its taking up fridge space.

Yes it is. We have 2 places, one 45 minutes from Spokane and the other is 45 minutes from Seattle. We are over by Spokane at the moment so I have a honyocker buddy bringing it to me tomorrow for letting him shoot a turkey in the yard.Bushman wrote: Nice find! I kinda get that feeling when I see an ole boy with a single bag of cracked corn in his cart at the TSC. I usually give a little nod toward him and in return see a wry smile.T-Pee wrote:That's what a woman in back of me said after seeing two 50#ers in my cart. The guy in back of her just laughed. I got a double take from an old guy at the restaurant supply when I had 2 50lb sacks of corn meal and a tub of olives on my cart. Haha.
