Moonshiners - Cannonball Run

Postby rad14701 » Thu Apr 19, 2012 5:41 am

This topic should be used to discuss the new episode...

Discovery Channel - Moonshiners wrote:It's the dead of winter in Appalachia, and moonshine season is months away. Moonshiner Tim and his partner Tickle are planning a daring 100-mile bootleg run capped with a risky midday moonshine transfer - something Tim rarely does, but he needs the cash.

Last night, April 18th, 2012, a special episode of Moonshiners aired... The Cannonball Run special is intended to keep folks interested in the ongoing trials and tribulations of Tim and Tickle until the new season airs...

Now, anyone with some wits about them can pick up on some of the bogus crap being spewed in this newest episode... First and foremost is the fact that you can never fit 200 gallons of anything in a retired police car... And you surely won't fit it in only the drop section and fore section of of the trunk plus a few gallons under the rear seat cushion... I've hauled 120 gallon and 60 gallon fuel tanks around in the back of a pickup truck and I can assure you that the volume those two occupied would never fit inside a passenger car, let alone the extra ~1,320 pounds in weight...

Also, why would the police be out stopping people thinking they are transporting moonshine without probable cause...??? Sure, we have safety and DWI checks around here but if you pull up like you know what you're doing they just wave you through over 95% of the time... If you have your seatbelts on, have both license plates properly affixed, have current inspection and registration stickers, and your vehicle appears to be road worthy, they could care less... And those only happen on major roads, not on dirt paths through the woods... Drive any vehicle between points A and B without being nervous, and looking like you know what you're doing, and you won't be bothered...

One more thing... How would Tim and Tickle know whether some of the moonshine would be delivered in 1/2 gallon jugs that would fit under the rear seat...???

What did anyone else pick up on as totally bogus BS...???

Those episodes make me chuckle... Someone else in the house likes watching but then she just grills me with questions to which I try not to provide too much information because she doesn't know about this hobby, even though I'm here in the forums all night long just feet away from where she sits...

I hear you Rad my wife DVR'd it for me to watch today, and she like yours has a lot of questions.

10-4 ! !
Mine, "STILL" thinks I'm making gasohole for the lawn mowers ..........
As long as I don't introduce corn or an old timey looking pot still = I'm OK ......
It is not the matter, nor, the space between the matter,
but rather, it is that finite point at which the two meet,
that, and only that, is what is significant...........
(Of course, I could be wrong) ..........

...it's a show I have to watch just cuz I love to hate it.

The whole bit about Tim 'needing cash' is BS. He made $40k on one transaction at the end of last season. Hell, call it $30k after expenses. Not to mention being a mechanic the rest of the year, and his annual "moonshiners jamboree" I don't buy that poor mans claim for a second. He's got more money than most people watching the show.
