I keep missing this thread. Only chance i really get on here much these days is the weekends. So happy belated to Tater, Jar, Midwest, RandyMarsh, and any others I haven't listed. Sure do miss a lot not dropping in on a daily or even a few times a week rather than just weekends. Hope you all enjoyed your day. Tipping a glass to you all . . . parents went on vacay, brought me back a bottle of Brugal, not bad rum. So i'll toast with that!

Thanks all. Heading off to work shortly. Tomorrow hoping to fire up my still since we finally have weather on the plus side of the thermometer (or above 32). Got 5 gallons of booners i'm hoping to run, it's been sitting since fall, but airlocked (ran out of time when i went back to school). If it doesn't turn out, i'll still be happy just getting a run! Early birthday to me this week, passed my all position stick welding tests and only a couple small burns from overhead. After work, i think i'll sit down and pour a couple fingers of HDNB's awesome COB all-grain i have been hoarding.

Happy birthday Moosemilk..
You deserved a good drink after your test..
Doing the same tests myself, I know how hard it is to pass...
Damned...it takes a lot of grinding on that butt weld to get a full root penetration.
Well done..!

No grinders, files, or any other tools that alter metal allowed on mine. Just wire wheel to clean between passes. Grind after cap approved, and backing bar removed. I find open root with back gouging much easier!
