Sorry for the downtime

Post by Uncle Jesse »

Did some FreeBSD updates recently which overwrote my kernel. The one they put in place is "Generic" and does not include the "Vimage" stuff. We need the "Vimage" stuff to run HD.

So, for some reason the host rebooted early this morning and when it came back up... the kernel wouldn't support us.

I'm at work so a good friend logged in, built a good kernel for us, and rebooted.

Sorry for the downtime.

Thank you Dave and to your good friend too. Appreciate your hard work keeping the site going. I have no clue what a kernal is, aside from something I grind up and mash up with some malt. ;)

UJ, it's amazing that this site has such a high rate of availability. It's a testament to the hard work you and others put into it. We tend to become complacent to just how reliable the access has become. Except for the occasional fluke, such as this one, and regular system maintenance, we can expect the site to be available. Thank you and the administrative staff for keeping this site consistently available and fine tuned.

I'd grown accustomed to your face, was surprised you weren't up, but since everything else around me as been unpredictable lately, I thought I'd infected you with the gremlins too.

welcome back, and thanks for all you do.
