Been longer than that! At least 2001. Here's an old snapshot of the forums when we ran ubbthreads. Converted to PHPBB in 2004. Which sucked because we lost some data.

Uncle Jesse....an Enigma in the industry that it is becoming.

A big "salute" for the creation and management of our site which is maturing at breakneck speed. Often imitated...never duplicated, HD is the first and foremost authority for the contemporary hobbiest...regardless of his heritage.

And the site has set standards which will continue to promote excellence and safety in a vunerable environment subject to the scrutiny of many peers. Indeed, the "whole" is much greater than the "sum of its parts".

Thanks UJ for your diligence and dedication to our (proliferating) hobby.

Thanks for the kind words folks, but I meant what I said - the users have made HD the valuable resource it is. I'm proud and happy to host such a great resource, but there's no way I could have done it alone.

Before we moved stuff to the new forum I downloaded the old to disk using aol 4 . long time ago wasnt it.Wonder if I still have it

No, thank you for providing this platform in the first place. I've learned a bundle here, mostly by just reading and lurking. The only social networking I do anymore is the type that expands the knowledge of all participants and this forum ranks high up on my list of places to sit and read while I drink my night cap. Thank you Uncle Jesse!!!

For almost 20 years I thought corn, sugar, yeast and water was the whole shebang, boy was I ever wrong.
(not that there's anything wrong with it)

This forum has taught me how to make a fine spirit, not to use unsafe materials, make cuts, blending, aging, mashing, fermentation, the list goes on and on.

Long story short, without this forum I'd still be a mediocre stiller with unsafe practices.
