Interesting Side by Side Mash Comparison - BW and UJSSM

Post by Stillin-Hearts »

Hello folks. I have two mashes going at the moment- Birdwatchers and UJSSM. The BW is two days older and will be used as a sac run. The UJSSM is the first “sweet” batch of that 5 or 6 run.

I checked the mashes today. SG steady drop, check. Temperature is Goldilocks.

What was interesting is the actions of the mashes. The BW had bubbles popping off the surface like right after a sprite or 7-Up is poured into a glass. The UJSSM mash was rolling, like a spoon was stirring it from underneath. Really cool.

And you forgot to mention the cap on the UJ.. and once it's done, the cap will drop down..

That the power yeast have.. they create quite the stir in their activity..

Good to see someone taking an interest in what is happening inside the fermenter and looking at what is going on in there
So many seem to look no further than a airlock bubbling or not bubbling. :(
While your looking dip a finger in and have a taste.

Bubbles of CO2 form in the corn chops
The bubbles get big before they bust out and head to the surface
Sugar washes sizzle
AG fermenting in a glass container is the most fun to watch
