How much heat required?

Post by 850stealth »

I have searched with not a whole lot of luch and alot of different answers. I am wondering what size heating elements and controller would be required for a 200L (50Gallon) boiler. It would have a sectional flute on top, probably 6". I was thinking 11KW might be enough but want to make sure before i go any further, thanks for the help.

11kw would be enough for your 6" column.
If you remeasure your boiler I'm sure it's 30G as it's the biggest that's allowed in this forum, easy mistake to make.

SP this is the craft distillers section, I suppose the OP is asking to setup a legal distillery

Thanks for the replies. I did mean a 200L (50G) boiler and I was also talking about a small micro distillary, a legal one. A few guys I know who have been doing this a long time and one who has been involved with other smaller operations are talking about starting one. I may get involved with them so I'm asking some questions to my own home work. I'm away at work now so I can't and them things from out here (offshore). I am very new to this and read about 6 to 8 hours a day while I'm at work to learn as much as possible. I'm not thinking about joining them as a master distiller but I'd like to know as much as possible if it does happen.

Pm me if you would like to talk more about what it really takes to make commercial quantities.

you can do the research for heat up times and vapour speed on the parent site, but you cannot discuss a boiler of that size without posting a distilling license in your sig line.
thanks.
I finally quit drinking for good.
