My Keg to Element Connection
A couple fellows thought this deserved its own spot on the forum as a simple solution to protect your element on your pig tail. There are numerous ways to go about this. This is not an original idea at all. Here's a couple pictures showing how I did it for $8.68CAD using screwdriver and a crappy drill. I think it looks pretty tidy.
Enjoy,
Aaron

Honestly it looks like a cheap and effective way off keeping your self safe. I like it. I would assume that if it leaked that the liquid would flow out where the ground wire is?????? Good job.

Great solution! I'll be keeping that in mind for my next build.

Great idea. Any reason why a 30 cent piece of radiator hose wouldn't work as well as the $7.50 Fernco coupler?
Distilling at 110f and 75 torr.

Re: My Keg to Element Connection
Um.... well, .... because Um...
Ya, I got nothin'
One day I'll add up all my reciepts of dumbshit I've bought. Wrong size marrets here, extra spool of solder that I'll never use over there...
A radiator hose would probably work brilliantly (if it's the right diameter). Add in the clamps, an xacto knife and blades to cut it, bandaids after I mutilate my thumb.
Still, probably would work just as well for a fraction of the cost.
Fact is I'm so over my head that I'll never recoupe the cost anyway.
It was two pieces to pay for, it was in my hand, now its on my boiler. Done.
Hope someone out there gets me.
We should start a thread asking the question "How much did you spend when you didn't need to?"
It could go alongside the "Tell me your mistakes" thread. Lol

Get rid of that thought, I really don't wanna even go there. I started adding up my brewery once and stopped prior to hitting the "beer for life" point. Never again will I attempt such a silly thingapdb wrote:.

And your drain pipe connector works beautifully. I hear everything you're saying. I'm the king of midproject redesigns. Often accompanied by "Oh shit, that didn't work. Now whadawe do?"

I have been looking for a thread where someone makes the same thing from PVC pipe...
But this works just as well. Bookmarked.

I'm glad it worked out, Rager.
It's funny posting an idea on HD. You see a reply and you cringe hoping it's not gonna be a backhand

This was put to the test this afternoon when the family puppy, for what ever random reason, decided to attack my connection wire just a few moments after I powered up.

Re: My Keg to Element Connection
I threw this setup together for a friend this weekend. Beginning to end was done in half hour after waiting for a charge in his cordless drill.
