When I get some spare time I will open mine back up but it looks like you guys are making out alright. It gets tight in the box. I wish my main fan stayed running even after hitting the on/off switch. When open it back up might look back into that. Also could use better groumets for the wires going into the box.

Thanks ddizzle.

What size fan are y'all using? How many cfm is enough? Thickness shouldn't really matter should it?

That is the fan I used. It's 240v hooked right up in. Fits our box perfect.

Yes, as long as your wiring is four wire so it has a true insulated Neutral and not just a bare Ground... The 240V circuit I use is only 10-3, not 10-4, so it doesn't have Neutral which requires me to run another cord to a standard 120V outlet to power my fan...

So, I got it all wired up and when i flipped the switch, nothin happened...

So, that got me to troubleshooting, I used 10/3 to wire the box, and the grounds all tie into each other
The ground from the wall, the ground to the SCR, and the ground to the element.

This means that unless the element is installed into the keg and plugged into the controller there is no ground..correct???
So this is why it the fan will not turn on when I flip the switch.

Is this going to be an issue???

Everything should be properly grounded all the time and not dependent on having the element plugged into the controller... Anytime there is electricity available there should be a working ground... Also, your fan should not rely on ground, it should be connected to either one of the hots and neutral... Very few fans have an actual ground...

I know earlier in the thread, they said it must have a load on it. Not sure if they meant for the meter to work or the scr.

SCR's require a load in order for the circuit to be activated... Virtually all solid state relays only control one of the mains... Even if the other is wired through the unit it is simply a pass-through... So if a load isn't connected, the circuit is not complete... Therefore the ammeter probably wouldn't work either but a voltage meter would as most (at least digitals) need to be wired into the mains before the controller... I take analog voltage readings at the element...

The fan is 220 so it is wired straight to the switch.

I need to look
But I might have thought of the problem

Yep

Forgot to tie the ground to the switch itself

Fan works now so that circuit is good
Filling the keg now to see if the element will fire

Wish I was at that point !!! Are you wiring directly to keg? I want to put a plug on my keg but haven't figured Out exactly how i want to do it.
