I use to use a home made crab cooker dubbed the BD747 on another forum and bloody hell. Full rip the flame would easily go 10 to 12 ft high, the main problem I had with it was it would soot running it low enough for a column. My two ring worked great but when I changed to an 18 gal boiler the gas lines were exposed to too much heat so enter the bango and what a bitch of a thing that has been. Just poorly made with the manifold not matching the intake and I foolishly persisted with it instead of returning it so what happens is if I turn it up enough to work it will blow itself out on the outside ring. If I turn it down enough to avoid it it is not hot enough to generate the required vapour speed. The big issue with this is it uses way too much gas. That said it would be useless used with the provided standard regulator, again not enough BTUs. HP regs are the way to go for sure but it seems with burners big is not always better.
