Heater element replacement help ....
I need to replace the heater element unit on my Still Spirits T-500 boiler.
The elements are mounted to a round plate and that plate seems to be held to the bottom of the pot by some adhesive.
Anyone know where I can get a replacement element assembly of this type and what adhesive I would need?
Still Spirits says they do not have the parts available.

Well, you might be due for an "upgrade".
Tough luck with the Still Spirits hardware...definitely not a favorite around here. Good luck.

I think you might be right ... I used it for a sparge water heater and if I can not find a heating element for it I guess I can use it as a fermenter.still_stirrin wrote:Well, you might be due for an "upgrade".

I do like to fix things.
Been looking at some SS 8 gal milk style cans with the removable heaters in the 2" tri-clover ports at Affordable Equipment and they really look good.

Have you checked with Still Spirits yet...???

Are you 100% sure the elements are the problem? I've heard they have a reset button that is hard to find.

I called the TV man when it stopped working. He found an EXTRA on-off push button under the screen...NZChris wrote:Are you 100% sure the elements are the problem? I've heard they have a reset button that is hard to find.

Yeah ... the over-temp or "run-dry" breaker is located in the center of the bottom cover and it is reset.NZChris wrote:Are you 100% sure the elements are the problem? I've heard they have a reset button that is hard to find.
I used an Ohm-meter to verify the 1000 watt element is open ... the smaller 600 Watt element is still good but just not enough wattage.
Still Spirits has a very limited number of replacement parts for the boiler and unfortunately the element is not one of them.
Looks like its time to re-purpose this boiler and invest in something more durable and modular.

For the price of a replacement boiler you could make a good keg setup.

Poke a hole in it for an element.

Lol - Sometimes we miss the obvious solution don't we ? Well spotted ChrisNZChris wrote:Poke a hole in it for an element.
I have similar bonded elements on my swan brand tea urn. I don't know if you can get them as spares, or even how to go about de-bonding them, but it may be worth asking the question ?
