Multipurpose masher, fermenter, boilers

In our view 30 gallons and under is considered hobby size. Do not bring anything larger than this to our site.

Multipurpose masher, fermenter, boilers

Post by DVW70 »

30 gallon pot, with bottom suitable for induction heating, its heavy enough for propane. I went with 30 gallons because at 25 gallons it leaves plenty of headroom. The top is water jet cut to my spec, 3/16" 304 SS with 2-4" triclamp ferrules, (one for the column still and the other for a flavor head - or one for the column still and a hand hole) 2" fill port, a 1/2 threaded port for relief valve and the pot/boiler has a 2" drain in the bottom and a 1/2" port for thermometer.

The cover is also the perfect diameter for my proposed 55 gallon drums boilers/fermenter micro process.

Total investment - $700.00

The mash paddle is the one I built from advice here. I made the long threaded rod assembly to work on my 10 gallon concept and then lowered for the 30 gallon. With the use recomended mashing process I never have stuck mashes now even at 3.5lb/gal and with the water cooled motor it hums all day. The conversion with a little more time and some protective elements to give a 24 hour rest and cooling period has provided the right amount of pace for fun.

The column build starts this week.

Looks nice, I like parts that can serve multiple purposes. One picture showed your car license plate so I deleted the post. If you want to retake the picture, feel free just didn't want anything identifiable.

Just finished the Column design. 4" diameter perforated plates. Interested in the capability of a 2nd plate take off to refine in one pass rather than two.
