Found under a porch

Post by Bushman »

My wife's cousin's husband just found this under his parents porch, I am going to try and get him to sell it to me as an antique. Would be great as a display piece.

PS: Will see them tomorrow and hoping to get a bit of history behind it and his dads distilling background.

That's sweet Bushman. Found one very similar to that in an antique store here a few weeks back. Parting with 600 bucks is the only thing that kept me from taking it home.

Good looking piece; check that solder if you decide to try it out.

It's not mine it belonged to my wife's cousins husbands father (could you follow that). We take them shrimping and do a lot with them and are very close. He sent me the picture as he knows I have an interest in the area, I am hoping he doesn't want it and would be willing to sell it to me at a price better than what Woodshed saw. I am not even sure how big the boiler is but I will find out today as they have a fractional ownership at a condo next to ours and I will see them today.

Never got the whole story nor did I get the still. He has it on display at his house with a brown jug as an ornament. Do know it belonged to his dad and grandfather and they hid it under the porch when they thought revenuers were around. Hopefully he will find out more and share it with me.

That's awesome. Thanks for sharing the pic with all of us. Finding bits of family history is always amazing. Finding significant items to pass down (even if not directly or to you) is an even better discovery.
