Tater you said your grand pa was caught. I had a granddad caught and his dad. Where they lived there were many who made moonshine. I always heard that normally the head of the home got to stay out of jail to provide for the home and the boys went to jail. My grandad was one of the boys. He ended up getting out early to go fight in one of the wars so they released him early. They were Scottish/Irish they ended up settling over on some land where most eIther made it or told on people who did until the government ran them all off. Now it's own by the national forest park, they are a joke too.

Only because I figured you would have posted it long before now if it wasn't newly aquired. I read nearly everything you posted and couldn't remember seeing you post that one.
It's a pretty insightful picture.
Thanks for posting it.

Looks like a pretty well organized operation.
How many hands would you reckon it would take to run that outfit under those working conditions and be at sort of a maximum production capacity?
Would anyone change that,,,,,"floor plan" if you see my meaning?
(Hope goose chimes).

Smaller boxes look like mash boxes to me rest look like apple/fruit bins. That hold around 18 bushel of fruit.Looks like the last box on upper left has fruit of some kind still in it.I think 2 to 3 man outfit.Dad told me when he was young and using wood the one running boiler did mostly only that .Managing a steady fire with wood was a talent in itself.Or so I was told. Id think old boys Goose knew would have a good idea about operation .

Can imagine moving all that material from point A to point B after every part of the operation, preparing for fermentation, managing water, collecting fuel,,,,oh the list goes on and on.
I remember Dunderhead talking about stirring till he felt like his arms would fall of as a young boy.
